2003

Make Me 2003 - 15th to 30th November 2003

Now in its third year, Make Me achieved a reputation as one of region's most unique design selling exhibitions, whilst raising awareness of the talent available on Manchester's doorstep.

Taking the best of the previous years, Make Me 2003 included an expanded retail experience with a larger shop, a market in a car park, and a higher profile for the designers and artists on the Setting Up Scheme.

Make Me Shop
In the basement of the Triangle Shopping centre you could find jewellery, lighting, glassware, textiles, ceramics, womenswear and fashion accessories at competitive prices for limited edition originals. Each designer featured made between 10 -20 items and were sold on a first come first serve basis. The limited edition originals were selected to achieve diversity and for their ability to offer good value for money. Each product was branded under the 'Make Me' logo and sold in 'Make Me' packaging.

Pay & Display
In the Lower Levels of King Street West NCP car park, Manchester a very unique one day event took place. Playing with the well understood concept of paying and displaying, this one day exhibition and selling event was about the creativity that Manchester's designers could bring in using a parking space as an unique 'shop window'. The car park was located close to the exclusive shopping area of King Street, took place on one of the busiest shopping Sunday's in the year with the Christmas lights being switched on later that day.

Crazy Art Golf
The Northern Quarter Gallery, Oak Street, Manchester brought us a lot of fun in 2003 by capturing the familiar seaside fun of Crazy Golf with an arty twist, Crazy Art Golf will had 18 playable installations by some of the UK's leading artists and designers. Jacqueline White, Tim Drage, Joel Chester Fildes and Michael Trainor were just some of the artists who created an experience not to missed.

Artists include Synchronized Liquid, Glass Maker, Jason Taylor, Product Designer, Damian Cruikshank, Sculptor, Izzie Rizzardini, Product Designer, Paula Keenan, Photographer, Sally Williams, Textiles / Product designer, Julie Haslam, Textiles / Fashion / Product Designer, Amanda Tolley, Textiles Designer, Halima Cassell, Ceramics, Raveen Dhanowa, Textiles, Kalsang Shoba, Metal work, Ashlee Symington-Truswell, Costume Designer / Visual Artist.
