Make Me 2004 - 1st to 24th December 2004

Make Me opened its Selection Box on the top floor of Manchester's Triangle Shopping Centre, offering a contemporary emporium of affordable but totally unique items, and the perfect antidote to mass-production and logo-mania.

It offered exclusive shopping parties and VIP nights to preview the Make Me design group and their eclectic mix of jewellery, lighting, ceramics and personal and domestic accessories. A special jewellery evening was also held where customers could meet and buy direct from the designers.

Selection Box featured a group of likeminded North West-based professional designers. Claire Norcross, Colette Hazelwood, electricwig, 24 Design, Caroline Hoyle, Jason Taylor and Steve Dixon were amongst the 30 plus designers featured in the shop.

Designers were available in-store to talk about their work and there were also daily special offers in a giant, 3D Advent Calendar - with each of the doors showcasing a particular designer's work. And because all items were one-off or limited editions, the stock and display at Selection Box changed regularly.

Make Me Selection Box was supported by European Union European Regional Development Fund, Arts Council, England-North West and Northern Quarter Arts. The promotional flyer was designed and produced by Glorious. The event was organised and curated by Design Initiative in partnership with Jason Taylor and Barney Hare-Duke.
