Creative industries in Stockport have been given a boost thanks to a new programme of FREE events aimed at improving business links and networking.
Originally established in 2007, the network gives local businesses an opportunity to meet up and participate in talks and discussions. Having proved so popular, Stockport Council and Stockport Economic Alliance have re-launched the network as part of the Stockport Boost campaign with events and workshops running until 2011.
This year’s activities will include some new features. As well as the familiar evening events featuring guest speakers, informal coffee mornings and professional masterclasses will also be added to the programme.
The season of events kicks of at the Hatworks Museum on Wellington Road South on March 9th (6pm – 8.30pm) with a discussion on collaboration as a means to growing business. The evening will feature two guest speakers: Liz Birkbeck, founder of Millco - a multi-disciplinary ‘virtual mill’ of designers, photographers, copywriters and branding experts, and Simon Grennan - one half of international artist duo Grennan and Sperandio. Future topics will include working with tourism and working with sport and all events will include ample opportunity to network with other local businesses.
Councillor Kevin Hogg, Executive Member for Regeneration at Stockport Council, said: “This is a great boost for local businesses. Stockport has a thriving creative industries sector and we are keen to see this area continue to flourish and grow. The programme of planned events offers great opportunities for local companies to meet and work together.”
